Not all 5 yellow can be mitigated, especially external ones. But there is no harm in trying since there are not much choices. The same remedy can be used as prevention as well. Since the 5 yellow resides at different sectors every year, do it annually after Li Chun (beginning of spring) usually on 4th Feb each year.

The remedy is doing METAL PLACEMENT at the 5 yellow sector of the property provided the metal item is placed on a metal day. The 5 yellow flying star in LuoShu is an earth element and in the fundamental of the 5 elements producing cycle, we know that earth produces metal and metal indirectly will use up the earth's energy in the producing process making it weak akin to a mother after giving birth to a baby. Here are some ideas of metal items to use – trophy, bowl of coins, dumbbell, machinery parts, metal pot, metal statue, etc. The key thing here is, the item must be made of metal and it should not make any sound because sound can activate the 5 yellow. Also, make sure it is safe from children and wouldn't cause any injuries! As for the size, it depends on how powerful the 5 yellow is in the sector. This is based on the flying star combination or external environment in that sector. The more powerful it is, the bigger we need.

Assuming now we found a metal item but when to put it? Refer to Joey Yap Pro Tong Shu/ Joey Yap iProTongShu or tong shu/Chinese calendar that you normally use, find a GENG (Yang Metal) day or XIN (Yin Metal) day or YOU (Rooster) day or SHEN (Monkey) day. If possible, the best is to find a GENG SHEN day or XIN YOU day. We call them pure metal day because the main Qi in the hidden stem of YOU is XIN (Yin Metal), whilst the main Qi in the hidden stem of SHEN is GENG (Yang Metal). What if the monthly or daily flying star in the 5 yellow sector is 6/7, which is also a metal flying star. Then this will be fantastic too. But a date with a full metal day in term of date itself is not easy plus it needs to align with the metal flying star in the day AND month is close to impossible. So, lets be realistic! Just take whatever metal combination you have even if it does not meet all the above.

I'm not able to find an example date for a pure metal day with monthly and daily metal flying star in 2019 but I managed to find it in 2018 as a reference. Bear in mind that in 2018, the 5 yellow resides at the North palace. So for monthly and daily flying star, we also refer back to the North palace for the metal placement date selection.

如果五黄真的被激活了而此方法起不了效，那么三十六计走为上计。为了家人的安危，暂时搬迁到另一个地方至到明年立春后才搬回来。

In Feng Shui, an item placed in a specific date will act as a remedy because it will lock the Qi in it or it will only be a decoration. 在风水学里，特定日期所放的物品才会有风水的效应，因为它将锁定指定的”气“，如果不是的话，它仅仅是装饰而已。
