Fundamental of Chinese Metaphysics 1: The Five Elements 玄学基本知识 1: 五行

If you see Chinese metaphysics as a whole, it will be complicated. But if we can boil it down to a few simple fundamentals, we will find it manageable and easy to understand. It is advisable to remember all these fundamentals so that they are at our finger tips when we want to apply Chinese metaphysics.

You will find that I used more graphics or diagrams when discussing this topic to make it fun to learn and easy to remember for those who are right-brained. If you are left-brained, you will have no problem too as I will still put in the text in the graphics.

很多人把玄学看得很复杂，其实它是由几个简单的基础而成的。只要我们能够深入的了解和牢记这些基础知识，那么以后对玄学就了如指掌了。

这次，我将尝试用图来代替文字，希望这样能使这个主题学起来比较有趣和容易进脑。图里也会放有一些主要的文字以便左脑及右脑者可以同时受惠。

I believe everyone is familiar with the image above (Image 1), which is the primary knowledge of Chinese metaphysics. But how many of us can really understand and remember it by heart? If you are struggling, no need to worry because I have broken it into smaller parts and put it into table form as below. Hope it will help you understand it more clearly and remember better.

The interactions of the 5 elements is divided into three categories: Producing (Image 1.1), Weakening (Image 1.1), Controlling (Image 1.2).

以上这张图 (图 1)对于很多人来说并不陌生，它是玄学里首要的知识之一，但是有几位是真正理解而且还铭记在心呢？如果您还是被它搞得团团转，别慌，因为现在我把五行相互关系分解为一小部分一小部分如下图以便大家能慢慢地把它消化并把它记住。

五行相互关系主要分为三大类：相生（图 1.1）、相洩（图 1.1）、相克（图 1.2）
